Competition Team

The Meraki Academy of Dance Competition Team is for dancers who are ready to take their training, performance ability, and commitment to the next level. Our team is made up of passionate, hardworking dancers who strive for excellence both inside and outside of the studio while representing Meraki with confidence, dedication, and sportsmanship.

Competition team dancers receive focused, advanced training in multiple dance styles, including ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, and specialty performance styles. In addition to weekly technique and choreography rehearsals, team members participate in regional and national dance competitions, conventions, community performances, and special studio events throughout the season.

Our competition program is designed to help dancers grow not only technically, but personally. Through intensive training and performance opportunities, dancers build strong technique, artistry, stage presence, confidence, responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills that will benefit them both on and off the stage.

We foster a positive, supportive, and family-oriented environment where dancers are encouraged to challenge themselves, support one another, and develop a true love and respect for their art.

Auditions are held each summer, before the recreational season begins, and are open to dancers ages 6–18, both current Meraki students and dancers coming from outside our studio. Dancers selected for the team must train exclusively at Meraki for the upcoming season and enroll in our ballet program. Placement is determined through auditions, where dancers are evaluated on technique, performance quality, attitude, work ethic, and potential for growth.

Being part of the Meraki Competition Team requires dedication, accountability, and a strong commitment to attendance, rehearsals, and performance expectations. In return, dancers gain elite training, unforgettable experiences, lasting friendships, and the opportunity to be part of a team that feels like family.
